Is that they claim they are so patriotic - they use cute cliches like "Good versus evil", "Supoport the troops", "Stay the course", "Freedom isn't free", etc. - guess how many of these guys served this country or how many of these guys have kids in Iraq? - that's right boys - that's the answer - but these are the patriotic ones - the true americans - the ones with american flag pins - the Sean Hannitys and Rush Limbaugh - true americans as long as its your kid's ass on the line.

Sey,

I served in the United States Navy from 1988-1992, aboard the USS Enterprise. I served during Gulf 1, I can tell you this 90% of the troops hate the Monday morning Qb's of the democractic party. The majority of dems voted against freeing Kuwait, which was also a just cause. The majority of the left were against Reagan while he was winning the cold war. the dems and Kerry voted to gut the CIA and FBI even after WTC1, do you see a trend there? I have no doubt America will win the current war no thanks to the whiney left.
Carry on.

A theory I have is that some of these types feel guilty or ashamed that they never served so they try to compensate for that by being in hawkishly favor of using military action in any possible way at all times.

D2, you could be right.
It's also possible that those people who didn't serve are so ashamed of themselves that they'll do anything in their power to make it go away!

I see people in here revile Bush because of his service in the guard - yet those same people fully supported a Clinton who went to England to avoid the draft, and who never served.

I don't like rapist and bank robbers either does that mean with the view I have I should be a cop?
I don't like burning buildings does that mean I should have to be a fireman?

Whoa - Patriot - Some caveats please:

Teachers teach in private schools, in public schools teachers are trying not to get mugged, fired or sued - they don't have the time to teach!

Cops cop when the courts let them do their jobs

Soldiers soldier unless the Senate Dems are filibustering against any increases in the military budget.

It seems to me that no one can do a good job unless we can get rid of the left wingers.

Another thing, the reason soldiers fight and die is to protect citzens from having 150 story buildings fall on their head.

Thats why I personaly thank every service man who is serving or served like gameface.
Not like John Kerry who shit on his commrade in arms with Jane Fonda while still a commisioned officer.

Sey,

I'll say whatever the fuk I want.

If you have a son in Iraq I pray for his safe return.

I was in during Gulf 1 and not once did I hear or see a soldier crying about being there.

The Germans did not attack the US, were you against our pre-emptive strikes against Germany.

It's obvisous America is the only country capable of doing the heavy lifting.

As for how many of the 535 members of Congress have children serving, associate Senate historian Donald Ritchie said, “I would assume it's pretty few.”

Among the public, the total number of personnel in all five branches of the service represents 0.5 percent of the population, according to figures supplied by the U.S. Census and the Army.

Ritchie said few children of lawmakers are in the military because fewer and fewer lawmakers themselves have had military service. The peak was just after World War II when more than 70 percent of the House and Senate had served, he said.

Also back then, he said, “a relatively large number of children served as well.”

The numbers began to drop especially after the draft was abolished in the early 1970s. But before that, the Marines, in particular, always had a strong contingent among the members with military experience, Ritchie said.

The tradition, at least, remains strong. Every Nov. 10, the corps holds a reception on Capitol Hill to commemorate its founding in a Philadelphia tavern on that day in 1775.

“The Marines say that any senator who comes is an honorary Marine,” Ritchie said. “The numbers are so few.”

Patriot....When you said "Americans don't send their sons to die. American sons volunteer to assume the risk. It's the other side that straps on suicide belts to their 10 year old sons..."

Would this include the Vietnam War, where Uncle Sam initiated a DRAFT and strapped an M-16 to thousands of 19 year olds......sent thousands of them to fight someone else's civil war, and 50 some thousand came back dead?

Did all these American sons volunteer, and how many of the ones that died volunteered to get killed over a worthless cause?

Good point Marco, there is not a whole lot of differance from the back door draft happening today. Someone tell me how many of the 50 thousand or so guardsman in Iraq today would have joined if they knew they would end up fighting another needless war on the other side of the world. Sure someone will say why join then, well most Guardsmen join to protect their own homes, towns, states and country, not risk it all looking for non-existent WMDs in the Middle East.

So according to seymour ,unless you fight in a war you are not allowed to express any opinions concerning issues of foreign policy. Wow that is a brilliant policy. Any other nuggets of brilliance?

If the liberal will would have prevailed in WWII we'd all be speaking German or we'd be a lamp shade. It's amazing how they refuse to learn about history. It's all give me give me, the hell with achieving.

Mr. NJ,

Excellent point. The guys in service hate the liberals.

I just got off the phone with a lifer that I served with, they can't stand Kerry and he personally knows a few idiots that don't understand what's going on. He says luckily the idiots don't vote.
